Sourcetable has launched what it's calling the world's first "self-driving spreadsheet," an AI-powered tool designed to democratize data analysis. The San Francisco-based startup secured $4.3 million in seed funding led by Bee Partners, with participation from investors like Hugging Face CTO Julien Chaumond and GitHub co-founder Tom Preston-Werner. The platform aims to simplify spreadsheet use, making advanced functions accessible to everyone.

The AI-powered spreadsheet allows users to interact with data using natural language, eliminating the need for complex formulas. Users can issue commands through voice or keyboard to analyze data, create financial models, and generate pivot tables. The "autopilot mode" enables the AI to execute multi-step workflows, interpret inconsistent data, and validate outputs in real-time, all while working with existing Excel files. Sourcetable's mission is to empower the 750 million spreadsheet users, many of whom struggle with basic functions, to become proficient data analysts.
