Samsung has significantly increased its stake in Rainbow Robotics, a South Korean firm specializing in advanced robotics, to 35%, making them the largest shareholder. This move involved an investment of approximately $181 million and aims to accelerate Samsung's development of humanoid robots. The company plans to combine its AI and software capabilities with Rainbow Robotics' existing technology, which includes the development of Korea's first two-legged walking robot, "Hubo." Samsung's investment will see Rainbow Robotics become a subsidiary of the tech giant.

As part of this strategic shift, Samsung is establishing a Future Robotics Office, which will report directly to the CEO and be headed by Dr. Jun-Ho Oh, a founding member of Rainbow Robotics and honorary professor at KAIST. This new office will be responsible for driving the innovation and commercialization of future robots and related technologies. Samsung anticipates that this investment will strengthen its global leadership in the robotics field.
